About the event

Preparation:

When you register, you will receive a zoom link for a meeting on 20th of August. Here you will be given the coaching manual to prepare you for the training. You will need to put aside 5 to 6 hours of work in preparation before the training, watch a number of videos, take notes and write down your questions. More will be explained in the zoom meeting.

Overview video of the coach role, or read more here.

Who is the training for?: People from denominations and organizations that have a heart for planting new churches and are willing to coach church planters over a period of 2 to 3 years,  that are going through the M4 team process. Preferably people with some coaching background and if possible, entrepreneurial or church planting experience.

Training Content:

We work with a foundational approach to coaching based on four values: gospel centered, relationship based, spirit filled and results oriented. That way we keep a healthy balance between the heart of the church planter and the performance of the art of church planting.

We believe a good coach makes a significant difference in the life and calling of the church planter and his / her team. In this training, we will expose you to the heart and character of the coach but also will train you with the coaching competencies necessary to help propel the church planter and his/ her team to maximize their God given potential.

In the M4 team process, we define coaching as a relationship between church planters and their coach to help the church planters and their team move from where they are to where they believe God wants them to be by following the lead of the Spirit in making them more Christ-like. In this workshop, we will also practice coaching skills and tools to increase our coaching ability. You will also learn how we work with coaching in the M4 team process and M4 Ready Recruitment process.

What to expect in the training:

  • You will gain confidence and security to come alongside church planters and help them face the challenges and their opportunities.
  • You will learn how to deepen and integrate the four values in your approach to coaching: gospel centered, relationship based, spirit filled and results oriented.
  • You will learn and master a clear roadmap for coaching conversations that will give purpose to every time you meet.
  • You will have exposure to coaching teams, providing strength by facilitating cohesion, complementation and motivation between them.
  • In this workshop, we will also practice coaching skills such as active listening, asking powerful questions, and helping design action plans.
  • You will be able to equip your toolbox that will increase our coaching ability.
  • You will also learn how we work with coaching in the M4 Team process and M4 Ready Recruitment process.
  • And much more…

Expectations after the training: Upon successful completion of the coaching training, you will be part of a team in your region who comes alongside and connects with the church planters and their team for the next 2 to 3 years following them during the M4 team process. You will be assigned one or two teams according to the ratio between trained coaches and church planting teams starting up.

During the M4 team process, the coach is expected to have one monthly coaching meeting with the church planter and every 6 months a meeting with the core church planting team. During the 2 to 3 years the coach is expected to have open communication with the church planter that he is following.
