About the event
Preparation: When you register you will be sent a date for a preparatory zoom meeting August 20th. Here you will be given a digital copy of the Facilitation manual to use in preparation for the training. You have to put aside 2 to 3 hours of work for preparation before the training. This consists of reading through the manual and watching a series of videos that will help gain an understanding of the M0 training. Please take notes and also record any questions that come up during your reading the manual and watching the videos.
Who is the training for: Those from denominations and organizations that have a heart for planting churches and are willing to reserve 2 to 4 weekends a year to facilitate the Learning Communities associated with the M4 team process in their regional context within the coming 4 to 6 years. Preferably people with some training and facilitation experience.
Content: One of the key learning approaches in M4 is “flipping the classroom” which consists of having the participants interact, reflect and work through the important issues before coming to the learning environment. That way, when everyone attends, the conversations, discussions and conclusions are deeper and more fruitful.
In M4, we define Basic Training in a Learning Community as a collaborative process where the church planter and their team have the best conversations around the most important topics that will bring about the desired results in planting a new church. We will go through the pedagogy behind the learning community, how to facilitate an M4 learning community and how to do an M0 preparation gathering for the church planter and their coaches.
What to expect in the training:
- You will learn and practice the 5 attitudes that need to be present in order to have a dynamic and effective learning community
- You will gain a practical understanding of what it means to “read the room” and follow its natural flow as well as knowing when to pivot.
- You will learn ways to ensure that learning, reflection, fun and action steps are being distilled during and by the end of the entire team process.
- Learning a pedagogy and methodology that will empower you to facilitate a learning community from setting the launching tone to a commissioning strong closing.
- You will learn and practice how to facilitate effective transitions during a weekend learning experience.
- You will take away a checklist of all the practical aspects that need to be present in order to enrich the learning experience.
Expectations after the training: When doing the facilitation training you will be a part of a team in your region who follow the 5 offline training modules (we call learning communities) of the M4 Team Process that will take place over a two and a half year period. You will also have the responsibility for a regular online facilitation with the church planters. During the 2024 - 2026 period, you will be part of a train the trainer process with training either in Brisbane or Melbourne where a European trainer will train you in the M4 Team process learning community. The goal is that you can lead and facilitate this gathering in your region long term.
Trainer: Oiving Augland - CEO M4 Europe.
